9pm: Latinando
Steven Ellery has been enthusiastically contributing low end sounds to the rhythm sections of musical ensembles for 10 years. His love for simple yet tasteful bass lines plays an important supporting role in the Latinando setup – and he brings his unique funk-qwela-rock style to the Latin sound. For Bolivian musician Kéch (Eufronio) Sánchez, folk music is a way of life. He moved from Bolivia to Switzerland for 26 years and then to South Africa for the last 20 years. He’s thrilled to be part of Latinando. The lady with no frets and endless notes – Julie Ainscow on violin has embraced a different style of music – coming from classical symphony to smooth melodies. From Blues to Jazz to Reggae to Rock and now Latino – John Ainscow on drums has played in many cover and original bands over the years in JHB, CPT and Fort Lauderdale USA. Latinando’s youngest member, Todd has loved music since day one and at the age of 7 expressed an interest in instruments but took to percussion with a huge love of rhythm. In Latinando, he contributes a precise, simple and effective rhythm.
8pm: Matt Gardiner
Matt is a young musician, singer, songwriter and producer born and bred in Pietermaritzburg – but already deeply embedded in local music. It has always been a dream of his to turn his passion for music into his career. He describes his music as acoustically written and transformed into a uniquely different pop sound with electronic production, and deep and melodic basslines. His influences include Ed Sheeran, Matthew Mole, Jeremy Loops, Jon Bellion, Dean Lewis and Dan+Shay
7pm: John Wood
John Wood, originally from PMB, currently lives in Durban where he typically perform solo/acoustic acts under the name JeffBurnsBridges.
