20:45 – BROWN JAM
Brown Jam is a slick, professional cover band from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Recent winners of the Midlands Mall’s Battle of the Bands, the members of the band are all local boys, and have been playing music together for over 10 years. The band consists of Tim Naidoo’s incredible guitar work and smooth vocals, Nathaniel Naidoo on classy keys, Mitchell Reddy with some impressive bass and the metronomic yet powerful Nathaniel Charles on drums. They have been friends for over 15 years and have had the privilege of backing some of the biggest names in South African music – including Loyiso Bass, Lloyd Cele, Noms Khumalo and Vincent Bones, to name a few. They are a polished, refined group of musicians and take their craft seriously. Brown Jam plays music such as Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson, Earth Wind and Fire, The Beatles and many many more. There isn’t a genre that they cannot do!
19h45 – GRACE AND THE BIG GUY
Songs For The Soul – that once and future Lentil Eater, Brian Bedingfield, teams up with renowned songstress, Grace Botha, for a programme of music for the soul. Expect everything from Country Gospel to Soul, plus some old favourites from Carole King and James Taylor. Oh, and a little humour thrown in for good measure. All arranged for one guitar and two voices. They aim to send you home a little cheerier than when you came, with a song in your heart.
19h00 – CORDUROY DREAMS
Two robust teenagers who know a lick or two, a few you might know and two you probably won’t. Cole Baker on keys and vocals, and Isaac Nicols on guitar and drum-box, they blend a unique sound of jazz, blues and pop—using two completely different tastes in music to create something new and fresh. With a repertoire ranging from 70s rock to modern day blues, they have something everybody can enjoy.
