Pretty Olifant is a witty, mischievous, unwavering free spirit. She is a social entrepreneur, brand manager, poet, and vocalist raised in iMbali, Pietermaritzburg. A force of strong women has always been in the forefront of her life, and she’s always been an explorer. She is a graduate of the AAA School of Advertising, JHB in Integrated Marketing Communications (specialising in Brand Management). Her love for music is married with her passion for poetry, and she goes by the name Pretty & The Music. Offering an eclectic sound that zig-zags across African rhythm, soul, jazz, ancestral sounds, reggae, rhythm and blues, all with an underpinning undertone of poetry, Pretty & The Music is sure to delight.
Mthobisi Mthalane is a professional pianist, composer, song arranger, voice trainer, and producer. He has a diploma in jazz and popular music from the University of KwaZulu Natal. He has worked with many high-profile artists, including the likes of Dorothy Masuku, Camagwini, Ntando, Zulu Boy, Rebecca Maloepe, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Benjamin Dube, JubJub and the Jaziel Brothers, Madala Kunene, Vusi Mkhize, Maisha (multi-racial rock band). He was awarded the MMIA Best Jazz Pianist 2022, and the SATMA Best African Jazz Artist 2022.
8pm: N’den
N’den is a musical duo consisting of vocalist Thulile Zama, and pianist David Smith.
The duo met in the early 2000s while studying music at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Their humble musical beginning as a duo started with playing gigs in different restaurants and in the corporate scene.
Smith has always had an undoubted passion for music, and was a member of a very successful jazz/hip hop band, Big Idea, that made waves throughout the country.
Zama, distinguished by her dazzling voice, is the lead vocalist of the successful all-female contemporary jazz band, Heels Over Head (best contemporary jazz nominees SAMA – 2011, and Yamaha Young Artist winners – 2010). This versatile vocalist is well-known in the jazz circuit, and a well-loved vocalist in Durban. Her talents have taken her to Hamburg and Berlin, Germany, and New Orleans, USA.
Since 2017, they have both been part of the Tributes to Mama Africa/Sophiatown band. In the last few years, the duo has been composing original music, and covering some of their favourite songs for their YouTube channel and social media pages.
Thulile Zama has been the concert organiser at the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music since 2011, and is also working towards her Masters in Culture, Communication and Media Studies.
7pm: Bradley de Klerk
A novice in the music industry, 17-year-old Bradley de Klerk is a local musician based in Howick. His involvement in numerous musical theatre performances, as well as a variety of musical ensembles at Michaelhouse has equipped him with the skills to start performing solo. Bradley is mainly self-taught and brings a unique sound to the songs that he performs.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: MiTH takes place every second Wednesday at The Knoll Historic Guest Farm, Knoll Drive, Hilton. Doors open at 6pm and the music will kick off at 7pm. Entrance is R50 at the door. Bring your own booze. Food and soft drinks are available for sale.
DIRECTIONS TO MiTH: Take the N3 to Hilton, take the Hilton turnoff and go South into the Village (away from Hilton College). Travel 5,2km along Hilton Avenue (past two sets of traffic lights and Crossways Pub) and keep going straight as Hilton Avenue turns into Dennis Shepstone Drive. At the 5,2km mark, Knoll Drive will be on your right – the entrance to MiTH is the *second* entrance on your left into The Knoll Historic Guest Farm.
